The dictionary defines a veteran as a “member of the armed forces who has been in active service.” I think a veteran is much more than that. Veterans are men and women who have placed themselves in harm’s way to protect our nation and the freedoms we all enjoy. Most of us cannot fathom the atrocities they witnessed or the hardships they endured. Many still bear the physical and emotional wounds inflicted during battle. The Heroes Park project celebrates and honors these brave men and women by giving them an outdoor sanctuary where they can spend time with family and friends, participate in games and enjoy nature. At the present time the only outside area that is available is the front parking lot. Heroes Park will provide them with an open air pavilion, shuffleboard and other activities, wheelchair friendly paths, raised gardens and much more. I urge you to consider a donation to Heroes Park. Let’s show our veterans that we are thankful for the sacrifices that they made.
